Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has declared he has no intention to resign his opposition.
Ayu stated this in reaction to calls by supporters of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for him to resign as PDP National Chairman.
Daily Report recalls that the resignation of Ayu was given as one of the conditions for reconciliation between Wike and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

We Won’t Let Anyone Destabilize PDP – Iyorchia Ayu
Things took a worse turn after Atiku overlooked Wike to settle for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.
While Atiku and Wike met in London last week as part of the reconciliation process, the resignation of Ayu has led the debate.
However, the former lawmaker has come out to say he is not bothered by the moves by people who were children when he and others formed the PDP.
He labeled proponents of the calls for his resignation as those who are not in touch with the goals of the party.
Ayu argued that he was elected by members and stakeholders of the PDP for a four-year tenure in line with the constitution of the party.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, the National Chairman said;
“I was voted as PDP Chairman for a four-year tenure and I’m yet to complete a year. Atiku’s victory doesn’t affect the Chairman’s position. I won my election based on our party’s constitution.
“I didn’t commit any offense; I’m only reforming the party so I’m not bothered with all the noises. I know I’m doing my work and I didn’t steal any money so I see no reason for all these talks.
“When we started PDP, these children were not around. They are children who do not know why we formed the party. We will not allow any individual to destabilize our party,” he said.
Ayu also debunked reports that a signed copy of his resignation as National Chairman was in possession of former President of the Senate and chieftain of the party, David Mark.
