Governor Nyesom Wike issued the order for the arrest of local refinery operators in Rivers State.

Wike gave the order during the Rivers Police Command dinner and award night at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt’s Old Government Residential Area.

He requested that the Commissioner of Police work with other security agencies, council chairmen, and traditional rulers to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in illegal bunkering and refinery operation.

Wike, who was represented by Chief Emeka Woke, accused those involved in the illegal act of causing the black soot menace and environmental degradation, endangering residents’ health.

He went on to say that “the state is more prepared to fight them than ever before.” The Governor also stated that since Friday Eboka, the Commissioner of Police, took office, the state had witnessed peace and improve policing.
