The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called for an emergency security meeting in response to the deteriorating security situation in the nation’s capital.

Bandits have been breaking into houses and abducting residents from the safety of their homes.

The situation has escalated to the point where some residents, including a 13-year-old secondary school student, were killed for failing to meet ransom payment deadlines.

Speaking at the ongoing meeting, Wike assured FCT residents that their safety is guaranteed.

He stated that the government is working to provide security agents with everything they need to combat insecurity.

Heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional rulers are among those in attendance.

The Minister warned area council chairmen to be vigilant in their local responsibilities.

He emphasized the need for the security device to re-strategize and redouble their efforts to combat insecurity in the territory.
