The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has saved the FCT a whopping sum of N110bn in just three months.
The N110bn was achieved through Wike’s ground rent ultimatum, which gave debtors two weeks to pay up or have their property revoked.
He made the disclosure on Tuesday when he met with the Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations in the FCDA Conference Hall in Abuja
The Minister said:
“Three months in office, I can tell you authoritatively, I have saved not less than N110 billion for the FCT and this money will be attached to projects so that people will see indeed that the taxes we are paying are being utilized for the interest of the people.”

According to the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) headquarters, the administration has been recording over N1bn in revenue daily since the ultimatum was issued.
The acting director of AGIS, Isiaku Ndatsu Alfa stated that there has been a surge in payment of ground rents since the Minister threatened revocation and commenced publication of the debtors.
Alfa stated that collections from June to July were at the lowest fall, but immediately after the Minister’s actions in August, ground rent earnings quickly rose to N500m, growing steadily to over N1bn.
The Director explained that the platform will give the freedom wherever anybody is so that in the comfort of his home, he can log in and feed in some necessary information.
The above will further lead to the payment of ground rent depending on the area and lines of his property.
He added that the collection of ground rent payments is about 300 percent of what they collected before the present administration.
