October 11th was a special day declared by the United Nations to celebrate and recognise the potential roles of the Girl Child in Societal development which is also known as International Day of the Girl Child.

The Executive Director of Women Initiative for Values Empowerment and Sustainability Int’l(WIVES Int’l) Mrs Tonbra Kasikoro-Kilopirite, as part of activities to mark this year’s celebration, visited Eseinabe Collage Bomadi and Toumo Secondary School Burutu LGA, both in Delta state for her Free sanitary pads distribution/ Sensitization talk to mark the 2021 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme: Digital Generation, Our Generation.

She advocated for girls’ digital access and inclusion in technology/ innovation as a priority to global conversation in a knowledge based society.

Furthermore, she urged all to take Girl Child development as a necessity so values can be positively placed on the growth of the girl child into a responsible Womanhood which is the building block of modern day society.

The girls gave positive affirmation to digital inclusion/innovations which is also a way to help them properly harness their potentials and support opportunities Our generation enjoys despite the challenges digital divide has poised such as lack of access to education, nutrition, legal Rights, medical care and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced marriage.

A candlelight night hangout was also part of activities to globally showcase commitment and hope for Digitalization/Innovation for Girl Child development.

Mrs Tonbra said:
“We also use this medium to commend the girls for their readiness to comply with the dynamics of this generation.

“We must heartily appreciate all the support and appreciation from all over the world.

She further appreciated the efforts of sponsors of the organization, saying;

“Thanks also all intending and prospective partners who in one way or the other has believed in our Organization WIVES Int’l.

“Your continuous support and partnership has helped to motivate our undying drive in amplifying the voices of Girl Child in this Digital Generation Our Generation and make society a better place for all,” she added.
