Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has claimed the title of the first young Nigerian artist to achieve major success. He credited his parents for allowing him to pursue his dreams, despite their initial doubts about his future in the music industry.

In an interview with Uplift X, Wizkid reflected on his journey, noting that his parents were skeptical about his prospects. He explained that growing up in a diverse household, where his father was Muslim and his mother was Christian, his parents supported his freedom to choose his path, even if they didn’t fully believe in the potential of his music career.

Wizkid expressed deep gratitude for his parents’ unwavering support, which he believes has been crucial to his success. He also announced plans to release a new album titled ‘Morayo’, named after his late mother, who passed away on August 18, 2023, in London.
