Wizkid Hits Back at Don Jazzy After Mavin’s Ladipoe Throws Shade Over ‘Hip Hop is Dead’ Remark

Wizkid and Don Jazzy

Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, fired back at music executive Don Jazzy after a perceived dig at him by Mavin Records rapper Ladipoe.

Ladipoe, who is signed to Don Jazzy’s label, recently mocked Wizkid for his controversial remark that “hip hop is dead.” In a post on X, Ladipoe wrote, “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own.”

A fan brought the comment to Wizkid’s attention, prompting his response on Monday morning. The Starboy boss dismissed Ladipoe’s shade, saying, “lol never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”
