Ayodeji Balogun, the globally renowned Nigerian singer, famously known as Wizkid and a Grammy award winner, recently made a clarification regarding his music genre. Contrary to popular belief, he stated that he does not consider himself an Afrobeats artiste.
In a statement shared via his Instagram story last Saturday, Wizkid announced the completion of his next album. However, he cautioned fans not to anticipate an Afrobeats vibe from the project. He specifically urged those who are dedicated fans of Afrobeats not to download his new album, signaling a departure from the genre typically associated with him.
He wrote, “Album done! See you soon b*tches!
“And abeg if you like Pakurumo Wizkid, don’t download this new album. In fact, delete me from your playlist and your life!
“If you like Afrobeats, don’t download my album. I’m not a f*cking Afrobeats artiste. I am not Afro anything.”
