A woman identified as Oluchi Chinedu Nkemjika has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for pouring hot water on her 9-year-old househelp.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested at Paradise Avenue, off St. Michael Street, Iwofe in Port Harcourt following the intervention of neighbours.
Sam Chukwuejina, Chairman of the Estate, in a chat with journalists described the incident as attempted murder. He stated that Oluchi after bathing the girl with hot water, physically assaulted her for about four days.

Chukwuejina, has while expressing his anger towards the inhumane action called on relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure the accused face the wrath of the law, He further said that the woman had previously used hot knife on the little girl.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the arrest in a statement on Monday, said the woman is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department. He further assured that the case will not be compromised as justice will be served.
