Woman Rescued Attempting Suicide At Third Mainland Bridge

A woman identified as Mrs Farida Sobowale was rescued by passers-by at the Third Mainland Bridge Extension on Thursday as she attempted to commit suicide at the Lagos lagoon on Thursday.

Sobowale, the owner of House of Phareedah Bodycare and Spa, allegedly parked her Lexus Sport utility Vehicle, SUV near the edge of the bridge and tried to fall into the lagoon.

images2824296733080094972733687A viral video captured the black-clad businesswoman in an inconsolable state, surrounded by anxious viewers who sympathize with her.

Though the reason for her suicide attempt was unknown as of press time, speculations cited marital problems.

According to checks, Sobowale’s suicide attempt came just one week after a man died at the Third Mainland Bridge.

On Thursday, August 10 the body of a man who jumped into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi Link bridge was found.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) disclosed in a statement that the victim died by suicide two days earlier.

LASMA said:

The recovered body has been handed over to the family of the deceased.”
