A Ghanaian woman has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for faking her own kidnap in the Takoradi the Western Region of Ghana.
Joana Krah, 29 was on Tuesday October 26, sentenced to six-years in prison by the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on two counts of deceiving a public officer and publication of false news.
Krah in a bid to extort ¢5,000 from a relative of hers faked her abduction.

Information gathered stated that she conspired with two others to orchestrate the act after which a call was placed to her godfather demanding the ransom but she was later caught.

She however, pleaded guilty to the crime on Monday, October 25, 2021, when she was arraigned before the court which was presided over by Michael Kojo Ampadu.
She was thereafter sentenced to two years in prison for publication of false news and six years for the charge of deceiving a public officer making it a total of 8-years.
However, both sentences are to run concurrently and so she is to spend six years in prison.
According to the court she was considered because she is a first time offender, she has a child and she also cooperated with investigators and turned herself over to the police.
