Amina Hassan, a 20-year-old wife from Mubi North Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State, has taken drastic measures to end her marriage.
After marrying Muhammed Auwal, Hassan expected him to divorce her shortly after their wedding ceremony, as agreed upon in a pre-wedding arrangement.
However, when her husband refused to end their union, she resorted to setting their house on fire.
The shocking incident was reported to the police by Hassan herself, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.

Before the wedding, she had made known her disinterest in the marriage to her parents.
Despite her pleas, her parents insisted that there was no turning back as they had already distributed invitation cards.
Frustrated and desperate, Hassan sought the help of a native doctor to change her husband’s feelings towards her. Unfortunately, it only seemed to increase his interest in her.
She said:
“We made an arrangement that he would divorce me after the marriage. I met him and pleaded with him to divorce me, but he remained adamant.
“He descended on me and started beating me instead of divorcing me, as a result of which I lost my temper and set the house ablaze.”
Meanwhile, the native doctor has fled Mubi without a trace and his phone number is unreachable.
