Woman, Six Children Killed as Hoodlums Storm Family Home in Kano

A tragic Kano attack has left residents of Dorayi Chiranchi in shock after a 35-year-old woman and her six children were brutally killed by suspected hoodlums who invaded their home, the Kano State Police Command has confirmed.

Seven people were killed on Saturday following a deadly attack at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano, plunging the community into deep mourning.

The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar and her six children, who were attacked inside their residence by unknown assailants armed with dangerous weapons.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call at about 12:10 pm on January 17, reporting an attack on the household of Haruna Bashir.

“Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, immediately mobilised officers to the scene,” Kiyawa said.

He added that the response team was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Mani.

According to the police, the victims were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed that all seven were dead on arrival.

“The bodies were evacuated to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival,” Kiyawa stated.

Following the incident, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, has been directed to lead a full investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those behind the attack.

The police command expressed condolences to the bereaved family and residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, assuring the public that everything possible is being done to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The killings have heightened fear in the area, with residents calling for stronger security measures to prevent similar attacks.

The tragedy comes amid growing concern over violent crimes in Kano. In a related incident reported by PUNCH Online, Abdurrauf Sheriff, a volunteer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, was recently stabbed to death by hoodlums in the state.
