The Super Falcons of Nigeria have advanced to the round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The remarkable achievement makes Nigeria the first African country to reach the knockout rounds in two consecutive finals.

Additionally, they have become the first African team to keep two clean sheets in the tournament.

As a result of their success, the Super Falcons are guaranteed prize money of at least $1,380,000 (N1.1bn), which will be shared among the players.

This amount could potentially increase depending on their performance in the competition.

FIFA has pledged $60,000 (N46m) per player, to be divided among the 23 members of the Super Falcons squad.

Despite their dominance in the game, the team was unfortunate not to score in the first half.

In the second half, while looking for a goal, coach Randy Waldrum made substitutions when Monday Gift and Ifeoma Onumonu, who were unable to take the field because the game had stumbled for a while, with both teams creating chances in the second half of the game.
