Argentina have advanced into the semi-finals of the ongoing Qatar World Cup after defeating Netherlands on 4-3 on penalties.
Nauhel Molina gave Argentina the lead on 35 minute after a defense splitting pass from Leonel Messi.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward then doubled the Albiceleste’s lead from the penalty spot after a foul on Marcos Acuna on the edge of the box.
However, Wout Weghoust lead a fight back for the Oranje, scoring two goals in the dying minutes of normal time to force the game into extra time.
Both team failed to score during extra time as the game dragged into penalties.
Lautaro Martinez then scored the winning spot kick for Argentina after both Virgil Van Dijk and Steven Beghuis missed the first two penalties for Netherlands.
Argentina will now face Croatia, who defeated Brazil on penalties earlier in the semi-finals.
