World Peace Day: SAF Visits Old Peoples Home, Distributes Food Items

The Shedrack Agediga Foundation on Monday September 21 2020, visited the Catholic Old People’s Home in Warri, in commemoration of the World Peace Day 2020.According to the foundation, the visit was in absolute fulfilment of the United Nation’s theme for this year’s event, ‘Shaping Peace Together’.

In explaining the rationale behind the move, Director of Programs for the Shedrack Agediga Foundation, Pst Idowu Seimode, stated that the UN had impressed on every citizen across the world to partake in the pace shaping process by exercising acts of compassion, hope and benevolence.He buttressed that the UN’s directive is solely geared towards ameliorating the averse effects caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic that ravaged the world.“This year’s event is peculiar and in line with the directive from the United Nation, the Shedrack Agediga Foundation has taken it upon itself to effectively partake in the peace shaping process.””Peace is a major tenet of our foundation and it is our tradition to impactfully demonstrate acts that give room for peace,” Seimode explained.“We have simply come here in fulfilment of this year’s theme, hoping that our little effort in reaching out to you will ease the harsh effects of the pandemic that affected every sphere of our lives,” he said.Speaking to news men shortly after presenting the food items and cash gifts, Chairman of the foundation, Comrade Shedrack Agediga reiterated that showing acts of compassion is what this year’s World Peace Day is all about.Quizzed on the reason behind the choice of the Old People’s Home, Agediga explained that their status as the most hit by the effects of the pandemic.”Peace is a vital topic for our foundation and whatever actions we’ve demonstrated here today is all in fulfilment of the year’s program as directed by the UN.””The aged in the society are one of the most affected sets of persons by the pandemic, hence picking them out to be beneficiaries of our benevolence was easy.””It is obvious that the avalanche of job losses may have affected their children or whoever had borne the burden of catering for them before now. We just hope that whatever we’ve done here today would go a long way for them,” he concluded.Matron of the Old People’s Home, Rev Sis Queen Njei expressed gratitude to the Shedrack Agediga Foundation for it’s gesture towards the the aged people.Urging that the foundation continues in demonstrating it’s act of goodwill to society, Sis Queen prayed that God blesses the Chairman and volunteers of SAF.”We cannot thank the Shedrack Agediga Foundation enough for this gesture. We pray God bless the Chairman and everyone of the foundation. We only urge you to continue in this path of showing acts of goodwill to society,” she added.The old people in their numbers showered their prayers and encomiums on Comrade Shedrack Agediga the entire foundation for remembering them under the hard economic conditions across the globe.The International Peace Day is an annual event marked by the Shedrack Agediga Foundation as part of it’s outline of activities as a non-governmental organization.
