WTO: Okowa Congratulates Okonjo-Iweala on Director-General Appointment | Daily Report Nigeria

Governor of Delta state, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala following are appointment as the new Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Okonjo-Iweala was confirmed on Monday after months of consultation among members of the General Council.

Okowa wasted no time in congratulating the Delta-born former minister of finance upon her historic appointment.

He took to his official Facebook page to say;

“On behalf of all Deltans, I join all Nigerians in congratulating one of our most renowned citizens, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on her emergence as the next Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.

“Over the years, we have all followed your growth and celebrated your noteworthy achievements. This is why, as you begin your new role at the helm of the WTO, I want you to know that you have the unwavering support of both your home state and your country!”

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala becomes the first woman and first African to lead the World Trade Organization since it’s inception almost three decades ago.
