Abdulrasheed Bawa, the recently suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has told the Department of State Services (DSS) that it has no right to detain him.
Bawa, who is being held in detention at the DSS facility, reportedly stated that the secret police lacked the legal justification to hold him without filing charges.
It was gathered that in a protest at being held without formal charges, Bawa has not cooperated with DSS investigators since his detention started.
According to sources, he was also charged with protecting former governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state and helping him to repress his political rivals.
