You Were Not Re-elected, You Selected Yourself – Falz knocks Sanwo-Olu Over Appreciation Post to Lagosians

Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has taken to twitter to tackled the re-elected Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over his appreciation post to Lagosians following his electoral victory.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu was declared winner of the Lagos state Guber election which was held on Saturday, March 18, after he polled a total of 762134 votes to defeat Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Sanwo-Olu following the declaration, took to Twitter to appreciate the good people of Lagos state for re-electing him into office.

In his statement, Sanwo-Olu said he is deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support and trust of the good people of Lagos State.

He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for leaving a legacy of fairness and electoral outcomes that reflect the will of the people.

He wrote,

Thank you Lagosians!

“I am deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support and trust of the good people of Lagos State. I am honored to be re-elected as your Governor and pledge to continue to work tirelessly to deliver a better Lagos for all.

“Thank you for believing in me.
I have personally penned my thoughts in a letter to you. I hope you read it and truly feel my passion for Lagos and for you

“These elections have deeply tested us as a people. This victory is not just mine, but it belongs to every Lagosian.”

The tweet, however, didn’t go down well with many, including rapper Falz, due to the events that unfolded during the election.

Reacting to Sanwo-Olu’s tweet Falz wrote,

You were not re-elected. You selected yourself. Everybody saw it unfold. You are only deceiving yourselves”
