In a significant escalation of the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party (LP), the Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties (FNYLPP) has publicly disavowed Julius Abure and Kennedy Ahanotu, contesting their legitimacy as the party’s national chairman and national youth leader, respectively.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Forum expressed serious concerns regarding Abure’s leadership tenure, which they claim expired on June 8, 2024.

“Mr. Kennedy Ahanotu, the Deputy National Secretary of the Labour Party, is hereby cautioned to stop presenting himself as the National Youth Leader of the party, or he will face the consequences,” stated Comrade Eragbe Anselm Aphimia, the Forum’s spokesman.

The statement further clarified, “Similarly, Mr. Julius Abure is also warned to cease presenting himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party for the reasons listed.”

A recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on September 4, 2024, resulted in the appointment of Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha to lead a committee tasked with overseeing congresses for the upcoming All-Inclusive and Expansive National Convention in 2025.

Moreover, the Forum has expressed its support for Dr. Halimat Tejuosho for the role of Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, signaling a shift in allegiances within the party’s ranks.
