Youths Set Ablaze House of Commissioner For Security in Sokoto

The house of commissioner for security and career service in Sokoto State, Garba Moyi has been burnt down by angry youths.

The action by the youths followed angry the long absence of Harba in the face of incessant killings and abductions in his village.

According to eyewitnesses, the house of the village head was vandalized by angry youths as well.

Garba was at the state capital when the youths set his house ablaze.

A resident of Sokoto, Abubakar Isa, told Premium Times that the youths were angry with the commissioner and other public officers in the state.

The youths had attended a security meeting of the local government area and were angered to see that the commissioner was absent from the meeting.

Isa said;
“Some of them even believe that the commissioner has abandoned his own people. The attacks are becoming rampant these days, despite the efforts they said they are making to address it. There is no day that a person is not kidnapped or killed in Isa or Sabon Birni.

“They went to the residence of the commissioner and set it on fire before proceeding to the residence of the district head and smashed the windscreens of his vehicles.

“They smashed some vehicle at the palace of the district head but no one was wounded.”

The Police spokesperson in Sokoto state, Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying that some arrests have been made in relation to the incident.
