Egyptian football giants, Zamalek have parted ways with the former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro less than four months into his two-year tenure.

The club reached this decision after a frustrating 2-2 draw with National Bank Egypt, which only added to a growing list of disappointing results.

The club confirmed the news in a statement shared on their official website:

> “Zamalek and Jose Peseiro agree to end the relationship by mutual consent. We wish him the best in future.”

Peseiro’s departure does not come as a surprise to many fans, who have been critical of the team’s recent form under his leadership.

CAF Confederation Cup Exit Was the Final Straw

The pressure had been mounting ever since Zamalek were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they fell short against South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC.

Despite high hopes, the White Knights were eliminated 1-0 on aggregate — a result that deeply frustrated supporters and likely sealed Peseiro’s fate.

The Confederation Cup exit marked a turning point, drawing attention to tactical shortcomings and missed opportunities on the continental stage.

Domestic Struggles Deepen Club’s Woes

Back home in the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek have struggled to maintain consistency.

The team currently trails surprise leaders Pyramids FC by seven points — a gap that has raised serious concerns about their title hopes this season.

Under Peseiro’s guidance, Zamalek’s record stood at:

7 victories

8 draws

2 defeats

While the team avoided many losses, the high number of drawn matches left them stagnating in the league standings, unable to build momentum or climb the table.

Another Chapter in Zamalek’s Coaching Carousel

Jose Peseiro’s exit adds to the growing list of coaching changes at Zamalek in recent years.

The club has struggled to find stability in its managerial appointments, with each transition further disrupting continuity and long-term planning.

Now, the board faces the familiar task of finding a new head coach who can steady the ship, reinvigorate the squad, and deliver results both domestically and on the continental front.

What Lies Ahead for Zamalek?

As Zamalek move forward, the immediate priority will be finding a capable replacement who can restore confidence and get the team back on track.

With their CAF journey cut short and league ambitions hanging in the balance, the next managerial choice could determine how the rest of the season unfolds.

Supporters will be watching closely, hoping the club’s leadership makes the right call — one that finally brings some much-needed stability and success to the storied club.
