Zulum mourns victims of Ngoshe attack, vows rescue of abducted residents

Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has mourned residents killed in a recent attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, assuring that efforts are underway to rescue those abducted during the incident.

The governor gave the assurance on Friday while visiting displaced residents from Ngoshe who are currently taking refuge in Pulka community, where he sympathised with families affected by the attack.

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram had earlier stormed the Ngoshe community, killing several residents and abducting many others.

Zulum disclosed that military operations were ongoing in the area and parts of Sambisa Forest to track down the attackers and secure the release of those kidnapped.

He added that security forces were intensifying efforts to flush out insurgents operating across the region.

The governor also called for increased military operations around the Mandara Mountains, which he described as a major security concern due to the presence of insurgent groups.

He further noted that the state government had commenced relief support for affected residents, including food distribution and the establishment of temporary feeding centres for displaced persons.

During the visit, Zulum also inspected houses destroyed in a separate attack in Konduga town.
