A student has been confirmed dead, following an explosion in a school in Abuja.
According to reports, an Improvised Explosive Device, popularly known as IED exploded at the Islamiyyah school which is located in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, about 42 kilometres from the Abuja city centre on Monday January 6 at about 12 noon.
Premium Times reported that bomb squad, as well as security personnel were deployed to the area, while the injured victims have been taken to the hospital.

“The dead student, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, bore the substance suspected to be IED while it exploded and injured the other students, thereby causing pandemonium in the centre”.
“the students involved were recently admitted into the school and that they resumed on 3rd January 2025.” the security source added.
All efforts to contact the spokesperson of the FCT Police command has proved abortive.
Police Arrest 50 Manhole Thieves In Abuja
The FCT Police force have arrested fifty thieves in the capital.
These suspects are alleged to have stolen manhole covers, street lights and other things.
