The bandits, who came armed in their numbers, proceeded to Anguwar Salanke and abducted another resident identified as Baba Na’ibi, while injuring others.

He said;

Actually, one of the victims was hit by a stray bullet when the bandits shot into the window of the house of Baba Na’ibi, while the second was injured by the shattered window pane of the house.”

The two injured victims were taken to the hospital.

Jere emirate council’s secretary, Malam Aliyu Zubair, who confirmed the attack, said six people were abducted in the area based on the information at his disposal.

Zubair said the bandits invaded the late emir’s private around 10:12pm on Sunday, and abducted one person, before proceeding to a neighbour’s house, where they whisked away five people.

Speaking further, he said before the police arrived, the bandits had escaped.

He further added that vigilantes who tried to engage them were overpowered because the guns the bandits were carrying were more sophisticated than those of the vigilantes.
