14 Children Trafficked from Plateau Rescued – NAPTIP
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued fourteen children who were trafficked from Plateau to Lagos State.
The children, aged between 13 and 17 years, were rescued by NAPTIP’s Zonal Command in Ikeja, Lagos, following intelligence from a credible informant.
The Commandant of NAPTIP in Plateau, Adole Agada, handed over the children to the state government on Tuesday in Jos, the state’s capital city.
The rescued children were largely used as domestic staff and sales girls and boys. NAPTIP has put modalities in place to curb the situation but called on the state government to support its efforts with logistics.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Caroline Dafur received the children on behalf of the state government and promised that they would be enrolled in schools and skill acquisition programmes to ensure they were useful to themselves, their families, and communities in general.
The commissioner, who said that the children would be taken for a proper medical examination, commended NAPTIP for the feat.
According to checks, the development was not the first time NAPTIP has rescued trafficked children.
