Chelsea first-choice goalkeeper, Eduoard Mendy has revealed who deserved the African Cup Of Nation’s best goalkeeper award.

The Senegal shot-stopper said the honour should have gone to the Egypt goalkeeper, Gabaski.

Meanwhile, Gabaski won Man of the Match award in the AFCON final tie between Egypt and Senegal.

The 29-year-old Mendy was crowned the best goalkeeper of the tournament ahead of Zamalek goalie after helping the Lions of Teranga in defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt in the AFCON final on Sunday.

The former Stade Rennes star conceded two goals only throughout the competition and also saved a penalty in the 4-2 shootout against Carlos Queiroz’s men.

Meanwhile, Gabaski was the icon in side’s victory against the hosts, Cameroon, in the semi-final of the tournament last week.

Gabaski helped Egypt secured a place in the final following his two saves in a 3-1 dramatic penalty shootout against the Indomitable Lions.

Mendy answered when asked by the media what he thinks about Gabaski: “Gabaski, he is the best goalkeeper of the tournament [AFCON 2021].”

“Honestly, I spoke with him, I told him he is the best. He deserves it. Honestly, I was really impressed by his tournament.”
