Black Stars have failed to progress to the group stage since 16 years when they were trounced by Zimbabwe on their debut in 2006.

Amir Abdou’s side excelled with a 3-2 victory in their AFCON’S tie with Ghana on Tuesday, 18th.

In the 25th minute of the game, the 4x AFCON winners were reduced to 10-men after Andre Ayew was sent off by referee Boubou Traore in the 25th minute of the game.

The Al Sadd’s winger was forced to leave Stade Roumde Adjia following a reckless challenge on Salim Ben Boina.

The 32-year-old Ghanian has therefore, emerged the first Ghana captain to have been booked a red card at AFCON.

Meanwhile, Ghana were defeated 1-0 by the leaders of group C, Morocco in their AFCON opener.

The team’s hope which was cloudy when they drew their second match with Gabon finally became extinguished following Tuesday’s defeat.

Ghana are therefore, seen on the last spot of the table with just one point in three matches so far.
