2023: I Have No Political Ambition, Will Vote Any Southern Candidate – El-Rufai

As the 2023 general elections approach, Nasir el-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, has stated that he has no personal ambitions and will support any candidate who emerges from his party’s zoning structure, even if the candidate is from the South.

The governor stated during the weekly ministerial press briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the presidential villa in Abuja that all he wanted to do was finish his job, get back to his private life, write another book, and make a lot of money.

And if I die today, I will be quite accomplished and happy because, given my humble beginnings, I never imagined I would ever enter this position in my life.

God has been extremely gracious to me. And my experiences in public service have all been positive. Why take a chance on a job that has a 90% chance of failing? As a result, I’m not particularly ambitious. I’m just someone who gets things done when given the chance. I’ve never wanted to run for anything, let alone this governorship.

President Buhari essentially forced me to run. He insisted that some of us run for governor in case he was not re-elected. He felt that we needed some strong governance.’ Those were his exact words. As a result, I have no ambitions.

I will vote for any APC candidate if I believe he will do the best for the country.

It makes no difference whether he is from the southwest, southeast, or south-south; APC and the quality of the person are what matter.

We’re talking about how the presidency is zoned to the south. It is not restricted to any specific location in the South. The South will be the first to try. But we’ll have to wait and see who the contenders are.” he stated
