Following agitations from different quarters calling for the next president of Nigeria to emerge from the South, the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Kalu, has clarified that there is no zoning arrangement in the APC.
Orji who is a former Abia State Governor warned those clamouring for power shift that the constitution of the ruling All Progressive Congress Party does not contain a zoning formula.
Senator Kalu disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at his Hilltop mansion, in Minna the Niger state capital.

According to Kalu, it entirely false for Nigerians to believe power would automatically shift to the South after the eight-year tenure of the President Muhammad Buhari.
“Most people are not aware that there is no zoning of the position of the President in the constitution of the APC; Nigerians from every part can contest for the office of President,” he stated.
Senator Kalu further revealed that he paid a private visit to the former Head-of-State to welcome him from his recent medical trip abroad.
