2023 Presidency: Northerners Don’t  Need Igbo, Yoruba Candidates

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday said Northerners do not need Igbo or Yoruba candidates in the 2023 elections.

Atiku said this while answering questions asked to him by the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, at the occasion of an Interactive Session With Arewa Joint Committee held in Kaduna State.

The former vice president, who described himself a Pan-Nigerian from the north, said Northerners need to vote for him and not a Yoruba or Igbo candidate.

Quizzed by Baba-Ahmed on why Northerners should vote for him, Atiku said;

“What the average Northerner needs is somebody who’s from the north and also understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country.

“This is what the Northerner needs, it doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate, I stand before you as a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin.”
