Vice Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed Yusuf, has revealed the reason behind his withdrawal from the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary in Kaduna State.

The founder of Baze University said his withdrawal from the governorship race was premised on his personal principles.

Baba-Ahmed is one among few Nigerian politicians who believes in the principle of not bribing delegates for votes.

The former lawmaker made the revelation on Monday in Abuja, during a press conference at the Federal Capital Territory.

The economist said he has no regret for his decision to withdraw from from the PDP governorship primary.

“On 24 May, I withdrew from Kaduna State governorship primary under the PDP on grounds of divergent principles,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed was reportedly forced to forsake his governorship ambition following a vow by of the delegates to overlook him at the Kaduna PDP primaries.

The delegates had described Baba-Ahmed as a frugal individual, who sought for the governorship seat without a proper ‘consultation’ with them and other critical stakeholders.

Meanwhile, shortly after the PDP governorship primary in Kaduna, Baba-Ahmed was unveiled as running mate to Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi on July 8.
