2023: Wrong Time For Big Brother Titans Show – Labour Party

The Labour Party (LP) has asked the organisers of the Big Brother Titans show to shift its commencement date owing to the forthcoming general election.

The Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential Campaign Committee, (LP-PCC), Dr Yunusa Tanko made the request during a press briefing in Enugu on Wednesday.

According to him, the show tagged: ‘The Titans’ which was scheduled to start on Sunday, January 15 would be a distraction to Nigerians, especially the youths during the election.

He further claimed that the show was sponsored by an opposition party targeted at distracting Nigerian youths from casting their votes on the election dates.

He said:

We have credible information that it’s being sponsored by one of the major opposition parties to distract the Nigerian youths from changing the leadership that has placed them in perilous times laced with abject poverty.”

LP, however, stated it was not against BBNaija show, as it helped youths to break the “poverty line.” It was therefore only against its timing.

Tanko said:
“As a party we are not against reality shows because it helps the Nigerian youths to break the poverty line but for now, for the common good of all it should be shifted to another convenient date.”

The organisers had announced plans for a new season of the Big Brother show with a different twist.

The new season would be a combination of both Nigerian and South African housemates.
