3 Burnt to Death In Kwara Tanker, Truck Collision

Three persons were tragically burnt to death in a head-on collision between a petrol tanker and a truck in Kwara State.

The vehicles involved included
a tanker carrying 45,000 litres of petrol, a truck loaded with soft drinks, a truck loaded with soybeans, and a tricycle.

The collision resulted in a fire incident, causing extensive damage and loss of life.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at approximately 2:46 pm on the Oko-Olowo-Jebba Expressway in Ilorin.

Reports stated that the state Fire Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have both confirmed the tragic incident.

According to a reliable source from the FRSC, a total of four vehicles were involved in the incident.

Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in the accident, while two others sustained varying degrees of injury.

Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the state Fire Service said:

The fire originated from a head-on collision between the petrol tanker, whose driver lost control, and the truck carrying soybeans.

Tragically, three lives were lost, and eight injuries were recorded among the 20 individuals on board.

“Despite the severity of the situation, the firemen successfully contained the fire, preserving one hospital and nearby buildings.”

Meanwhile, the FRSC disclosed it is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause and prevent similar accidents in the future.
