The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Obasi Okeke, a bolt driver in Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba announced the suspects’ arrest during their parade in Abuja.
Garba stated that the victim was found on June 5 with a slit throat lying in a pool of blood at Ngugu close to Area 11 Garki Abuja.

He explained that through a careful investigation, the authorities were able to identify and apprehend the three suspects: Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony, and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun.

According to the Commissioner, the deceased bolt driver was called by one of the suspects to transport them to the Guzape Area, where they had gone to purchase illegal substances.
Upon arriving at their destination, they realized they were unable to pay for their journey.
Garba narrated that in an attempt to deceive the deceased, the suspects displayed a fake debit alert on their phones.
However, the deceased maintained that no such alert was received.
As tensions escalated, one of the suspects produced a knife and tragically slit the deceased’s throat before fleeing the scene.
All three suspects have confessed to the heinous act, the Commissioner revealed, stressing that they will soon face charges in a court of law.

He said:
“Back from Guzape, to their take off point, they discovered they had no money to pay for their trip, they decided to play a fast one by showing the deceased a fake debit alert on their phone, but the deceased insisted that he has not received any alert.
“In the ensuing argument one of the suspect brought out a knife slit the deceased throat and fled from the scene. The three (3) suspects have since confessed to the crime and will be charge to court soon.”
