Muslims, Christians Pray for Rainfall in Borno

Some Muslims and Christians in Borno State have organised a special prayer for steady rainfall.

Muslim faithful observed the prayer in mosques, while Christian faithful of different denominations gathered at First Baptist Church in Maiduguri (the state capital city) on Friday.

The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi, and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials urged the faithful to pray for divine intervention over the shortage of rainfall.

Both religious groups prayed also for the reign of peace in the state.

Shehu also directed district and village heads to mobilise support for the needy, orphans, and the disabled.

He advised parents to counsel their children against immoral behaviors, misconduct, social vices, and drug abuse.

To the traders and business operators, he urged them to conduct their lawful businesses with fear of Allah.

During the prayer session for Christians at the Baptist Church, the state chairman of CAN, Most Rev John Bakeni emphasized the importance of seeking God’s face and following His ways in all aspects of life.

Bakeni exhorted the faithful to embrace these principles to experience positive outcomes.

In addition, the Bishop of Maiduguri Anglican Diocese, Rev Emmanuel Morris, offered prayers for peace in the state and requested fruitful rainfall for a bountiful harvest.
