Rescheduled IYC Elections to Hold Today

Rowdiness, Confusion Trail IYC Elections

The rescheduled national elections of the Ijaw Youth Council will hold today, Saturday July 22 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the elections earlier scheduled for July 19 was postponed after heavy rowdiness.

President Peter Igbifa also dashed out of the election venue halfway after declaring the convention open.

Speaker of the Mobile Parliament, Bob Collins Igetei was declared acting IYC President through a unanimous motion after the tenure of the 8th National Executive Council led by Igbifa expired at midnight on Wednesday July 19.

Also, Gilpin was drafted in to replace Solomon Urang as Electoral Committee.

The elections were subsequently fixed for July 22 to hold at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa.
