3 Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Mechanic In Kwara

3 artisans have bagged death sentence, after being convicted of culpable homicide.

According to reports, the convicts were said to have tortured a mechanic, Saheed Lawal to death.

The incident happened in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara stateon November 5, 2020, at a mechanic workshop near Government Day Secondary School, Amuyo, Offa.

The prosecution counsel, Kwara State Ministry of Justice prosecuted the trio, identified as Isiaka Jimoh, Lekan Ahmed, and Adebayo Saheed, for homie and conspiracy, which goes against the Section 221 of the Penal Code, CAP. P4, Laws of Kwara State.

 

The prosecution counsel, led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ayoola Akande also told the court that the convicts also attempted to kill another artisan, Hamzat Ibrahim, by pouring hot red pepper into his ears during the same incident.

Delivering judgement, the presiding judge in a Kwara state High Court, Justice Adebayo Yusuf said the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt the suspects committed the crime.

“From the evidence before the court, the three defendants were responsible for the death of Saheed Lawal, who was their colleague at the same workshop in Offa,” Justice Yusuf said. 

“The three defendants are to die by hanging until they breathe their last. May God have mercy on their souls,” Justice Yusuf declared
