Fake Lawyer Bags 3-Year Jail Term in Ogun

A fake lawyer identified as Oluwagbenga Adedeji, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Magistrates’ court sitting in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun state.

Adedeji had appeared as a counsel for a client last week after which he was arrested at the court premises.

Chief Magistrate B. A Somorin presided over the case, as the convict was arraigned on one count of illegal and unlawful appearance as a lawyer.

The convict was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labour without a fine option.

He had initially pleaded not guilty but later pleaded guilty after he was confronted with concrete evidence.

It was alleged that his conduct was not in line with a professional or certified lawyer as he was quickly noticed by the Magistrate.

He was detained at the Ewekoro Police Station, from where he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for prosecution.
