7 Killed, 20 Abducted in Zamfara Terrorist Attack

In a harrowing incident on Thursday evening, no fewer than seven lives were lost, and approximately twenty individuals were abducted during a brutal terrorist assault in Nasarawa Godel, situated within the Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Unlike their typical mode of transportation on motorcycles, the terrorists arrived in Toyota Hilux vans.

At approximately 6:00 PM, they descended upon the community with three Hilux vans, heading directly toward the community’s exit.

As chaos erupted, the vigilante members—usually tasked with maintaining security—had ventured out to assist Kasheshi Kura, leaving the area vulnerable.

The assailants circled the community via an external route, firing indiscriminately.

Mubarak, a resident of the area, tragically lost his childhood friend during the attack.

He said:
It’s barbaric how criminals will just come into a town and start shooting people. They operated for three hours without anyone to protect us.”

The northern region of Zamfara State, which shares borders with Katsina, Sokoto, and Niger Republic, is grappling with a resurgence of terrorist attacks.

In recent days, militants have claimed the lives of 13 people, including two police officers, and have abducted around 40 individuals in separate incidents in the Kaura Namoda and Zurmi areas.

Furthermore, during an assault on a military camp in Dauran, two soldiers and a mobile police officer also fell victim to the terrorists’ violence.
