Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Ogun state have confirmed the arrest of 8 teenagers for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

According to reports, the suspects, identified as Matthew Omotayo, age 17 Mojeeb Solomon, 16 years; Olamilekan Adefuye, 18 years; Damilola Ismail, 19 years; Emmanuel George, 17 years; Aborisade Ayomide, 17 years; Paul Chukwuchebe, 19 years and 16 -years old Lateef Adeoye were said to have committed the crime at the Ijebu-Mushin, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Confirming the arrest in a statement released to Daily Post, the command’s PRO, Dyke Ogbonnaya noted that the incident occurred on Friday, November 15th, 2024.

He added that the suspect, who confessed to be students of St. Anthony Grammar School said they took the teenager without consent to a secluded room and had violent sexual intercourse with her and put the same event in a video form.

He said,

According to the teenager, she was sexually abused the first time and was recorded and the alleged suspects threatened to upload the video on social media if she did not allow them to have her again which she also consented to until she resolved to report the matter to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Divisional Office at Ijebu-Mushin, Ogun State.

He further added that with the victim’s mother’s permission, a test was carried out on her, which also enabled the suspects to be arrested and remanded.

The Magistrate granted the prayer of the Civil Defence legal officer to remand the suspects for 60 days pending the outcome of the advice from the Department of Public Prosecution and he thereafter adjourned the matter to the 20th of January, 2025.
