The statement read in full;

“The foremost sociocultural organisation of the Ijaw ethnic nationality, worldwide, the Ijaw National Congress (INC), wishes to formally congratulate you on your victory as the Governor-elect of Delta state in the March 18 Governorship election.

“Your Excellency sir, having distinguished yourself as a legislator and an outstanding leader, which has led to the stability of the State Legislature where you have been the Presiding Officer for the past six years, INC has no doubt about your ability to pilot the affairs of the state and to continue from where the outgoing Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, will stop as we eagerly await your inauguration as the next Governor of Delta state come May 29, 2023.

“We, however, wish to state that your victory was not without the support of the Ijaw nation of Delta state as was evident in the results from the Ijaw communities in the state and to urge you to carry such communities along in terms of infrastructural development and political appointment.

“INC assures you of continued support and cooperation as you prepare to assume duty in Osadebe House, Asaba, just as we pray for a seamless transition of power to you so that Deltans could benefit from the MORE Agenda of your incoming administration. Once again congratulations, sir.”
