Labour Party (LP) House of Representative member, Amobi Ogah has advised his party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi to support the current administration of Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogah, a representative of the Isiuakwato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia State in the 10th National Assembly advised Obi to prioritize Nigeria’s interest by declaring his support for Tinubu’s government.

Despite coming third in the presidential election, Ogah encouraged Obi not to lose hope and reminded him that leaders are ordained by God.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Ogah emphasized the importance of putting Nigeria first, even if it means supporting a rival party’s government.

He who previously described Tinubu as an intelligent man expressed his approval of the President’s administration and urged Obi to do the same.

He said:

“Once you are in this politics, don’t lose hope. Don’t think that if you don’t win today, you will not win again.

“Once someone has won the election, to be a good sportsperson, you must give the person support. For me like I said earlier last two weeks that trended all over the world, when I told the people, election has come and gone, now it’s about governance.

“And whoever Go has given mandate to represent the people, you must respect that institution. Because today while I am representing you, it is that institution that brought me to this place.

“For that reason, I always say whoever that is in that seat, give the person that support until either court says otherwise or God. We must put Nigeria first.

“Nigeria is more important than anybody. It is more important than me. Let’s leave that for another day but I can tell you it is only God that gives power.”

Recall that Obi and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, alongside their parties, are challenging Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
