In the past few months, Nigerians have been determined to use all means possible to set one or more Guinness World Records.
Chef Hilda Baci led the charge and started the cook-a-thon trend in Nigeria and was subsequently certified by GWR with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes in June.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have given different reactions to the development.
See some reactions below:
…: “I wish I can have a one on one discussion with the GWR GM.”
…: “The reason we are backward is because we are never creative. …. Do something meaningful.”
…: “Nigerians are not innovative… but we can copy well… Anyways it’s working for Zuck.”
…: “Senseless and already disqualified.
“But we know all these are for the publicity.
“None of these clowns are interested in breaking the GWR because they don’t even understand how the process goes. They are only interested in publicising themselves bodily mainly and hope other things will follow therefrom.”
…: “Lol. When will they get tired of this? Everything -athon!”
“It’s not funny anymore.
Guinness World Record will soon be fed up with anything Nigeria.”
…: “Which one is snail a thon
“1. Snails are expensive now. If you come to gate, or oje market Ibadan 6 big snails cost 8k.
“Now imagine cooking snails for 200hrs. Waste of resources.”
…: “Well, I don’t think it’s a contest to Hilda’s enterprise since it’s snail specific. However, is she prepared for it? Has she gone through the rules?
“US will probably find employment for her if she manages to impress them. The Giant African Snail has actually dealt with them; imagine if they could make meals out of it.”
