The President of the Urhobo Progressive Union, Youth Wing, Comrade Umukoro Efemena has escaped an assassination attempt on him by unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists.

The attempt on the number one Urhobo youth worldwide is coming barely 24hrs after the President of the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps in Delta state, Amb Austyne Emu was murdered by suspected cultists in Kwale on Saturday night.

Comrade Efemena was among the vocal voices to condemn Austyne’s murder while calling for justice for the slain security chieftain.

The vocal Efemena decried the attempt on his life by his assailants who mistook his driver for him and kidnapped the chauffeur.

He took to his Facebook handle to lament over the incident, wondering why he became a target in a cult war when he is not a part of any cult organ.

He explained his position as a committed leader to curbing violence in the state.

Narrating his ordeal, Efemena wrote;
“Could this be a coincident or a deliberate attempt on my Life ?

24hours after Austyne Emu was assassinated, unknown gunmen attacked my car, mistook me for the driver and he was kidnapped. It took the swift response of the Abraka DPO who personally led the Operation and some Indigenes to block all access points in the community, hence they were forced to abandon my boy along the river bank.

His mobile phones were stolen .We later saw my Lexus jeep along Okagbare hotel Road. Comrade Nicholas was picked up by 9pm along Ivie road and released by 1 50 am .

I am an Ethnic Youth President. I have defended the youths with my contacts and influence. I have bailed so many for free . Even the ones tagged cultist I have equally assisted a lot of them .

I have NEVER EVER been a cultist in my entire life and I don’t intend joining anyone at this age. my vision WAS to see how we can take off violent from Cultism to avoid senseless killing of each other but now see what they are doing.

But in all , God is not DEAD.”
