Sanwo-Olu Tests Positive For Coronavirus | Daily Report Nigeria

The Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus.

The Governor’s COVID-19 status was disclosed by the Lagos state health commissioner, Dr Akin Abayomi.

Recall that the Governor had gone into self-isolation on Friday following a reported contact with persons who tested positive the lethal virus.

According to the statement by Dr Abayomi, Governor Sanwo-Olu is being treated by medical experts at home.

The statement titled, “Sanwo-Olu undergoes COVID-19 treatment’ reads, “Following Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s exposure to a confirmed case of COVID19, a PCR test performed yesterday the 11th of December has confirmed that he has indeed been infected with the virus which is supported by mild symptoms and fatigue typical of a mild case of COVID-19

“Mr Governor is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by the very experienced State #COVID19 clinical team from IDH Yaba.

“Mr Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest and we are confident that he will recover quickly and clear the virus.”

Sanwo-Olu’s positive result comes barely 24hrs after Nigeria recorded a total of 796 new cases; the highest the country has recorded in a singled day since the outbreak of the virus in late February.
