Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called off the sit-at-home order usually observed on Mondays in Enugu State.

The development came in the aftermath of the protest by traders at the Enugu Government House.

In a public notice on Thursday, Ekpa, a Finland-based lawyer and prime minister of the Biafra Republic Government, instructed the protesting traders in Enugu to resume their business operations.

Furthermore, he urged those affected by the protest to provide details of the casualties for immediate medical intervention.

Reports held that three individuals lost their lives and several others were injured during the protest, which was sparked by the sealing of their shops by the state government due to their failure to open on Monday.

Ekpa assured that the injured would receive prompt medical treatment, and the “Biafra government” would reach out to the families of those who lost their loved ones.

He said;

“We call on Biafra traders in Enugu to make available, send the details of all injured traders and those that lost their lives to the Nigerian government during the protest; their loved ones and their families should send contact details to Biafra government info(at)biafrarepublicgov.org for immediate intervention by the government of Biafra.

“We call on Biafrans to open their shops, businesses and also supply us with helpful information about the killers and those locking their shops.”
