Tribunal Declares Natasha Akpoti Winner of Kogi Central Senatorial Election

1 Min Read

The Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal has declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election.

The ruling was delivered jointly by a three-man panel led by Tribunal Chairman, Justice K A Orjiako.

According to Orjiako, Sen Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had his victory invalidated due to inflated results in nine polling units.

He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also made errors by reducing Akpoti-Uduagan’s results and omitting three polling units meant for her.

Having made necessary corrections, the Judged said, the PDP candidate emerged as the winner with 54,074 votes, surpassing Ohere’s 51,291 votes.

The Justice entreated Ohere to pay Akpoti-Uduagan N500,000 for the price of the petition.
