A minimum of eight persons have been left injured after a 20-storey building collapsed in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the building under construction caved in around 6 pm on Thursday.
The incident is said to have occured while construction workers were still working on the structure.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Mr. Michael Anoka, who visited the scene of the incident, said the collapse was caused by a building defect.

Anoka confirmed that no casualties were recorded, and that the injured workers had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The building situated directly opposite the Delta Mall Asaba is owned by Rainoil boss, Gabriel Ogbeche.
