The National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Jos has declared Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong as winner of the Plateau South Senatorial election.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Bali Napoleon of the Peoples Democratic Party was sacked by the tribunal sitting in Jos on Monday.

In a judgment that last over four hours, the tribunal held that the PDP was ineligible to participate in all national elections in the Plateau.

It attributed the PDP’s failure to respect Court orders in respect to conducting congresses as a reason for not having the right to participate in the elections.

According to the tribunal, all votes scored by the PDP during the senatorial elections were wasted and as such, directed INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Bali as well as the issuance of a fresh certificate to Lalong.

The tribunal further held that the PDP having no structure, lacked the right to partake in the elections.
